Amphenol Tuchel Industrial is one of the companies of a large corporation founded in 1932 in the USA. Amphenol has a workforce of more than 120,000 employees worldwide and the Ostrov office with more than 300 employees is one of the most stable companies in the region. 

Since November 2022, it has been operating in a new hall in the industrial zone in Ostrov near Karlovy Vary. The new plant meets all the requirements for efficient operation of a stable and dynamically developing manufacturing company, and at the same time fully meets the environmental certification requirements of the BREEAM system. This system is a benchmark of building design and operational practices with an emphasis on sustainability that has become a practical standard for describing a building's environmental performance.

The company focuses on the production of connectors, smart card readers, and is one of the major suppliers of cable harnesses and connecting systems for industry.

Objective: During the introductory semester, the student will become familiar with preparing partial reports within Power BI and will play a minor role in various digitalization projects.

  • Communication technologies
  • Communication protocols
  • Methods for digitalizing production processes

Industrial Engineering and Production Optimization

Objective:Introducing students to the corporate environment, basic principles of industrial engineering, and learning methods for analyzing and optimizing business processes.

  • Basics of industrial engineering and Lean methodology
  • Mapping and analysis of business processes (VSM, DMAIC, SPAGHETTI DIAGRAM, etc.)
  • Identifying waste and proposing improvements (Kaizen, Ergonomics, Standardization, etc.)
  • Standardization and visual management (5S, Visual Management, Kanban, etc.)
  • Layout creation and design of production cells (Project Management, SW: DraftSight)
  • Designing workplaces using 3D models (SW: Blender)
  • Increasing machine equipment efficiency (OEE)

Work Analysis and Measurement Techniques

  • Time study methods and work efficiency measurement (MTM, MOST, Chronometry (REFA))
  • Ergonomics and motion economy (Checklists, RULA, OWAS, NIOSH)
  • Simulation of production processes

Digitalization in Production

  • Digitalization in workplaces: "How are we doing?" (Paperless, MES systems, etc.)
